The original of this post was made on FaceBook on July 21, 2025.

First leg of my Great Lakes ride is in the can. A mixture of fun beautiful roads and the danger of nasty rainy roads. I was itching to ride and couldn't wait until today to start, so I left Peoria 2 days early at 6 am.

Rainy weather was threatening the entire route, but my weather app showed that I could miss most if it, if I left at daybreak...so I did. 390 miles of mostly clear riding. The last 40 miles was a bit treacherous, and even with rain gear on I was soaked by the time I arrived at my hotel.

Thankfully the weather cleared up for the last two days. Perfect conditions for riding southwest Michigan. From Saugatuck thru Holland thru Grand Haven to Silver Sands to Whitehall and then Ludington and back to Muskegon. I enjoy discovering unique tidbits, and today's surprise was discovering that Buster Keaton, world-famous silent-movie actor and director hailed from Muskegon.

Dray had another AMAZING day. He attended flag football camp, and wore the jersey of his favorite NFL player, JJ #18 for the Vikings. (I thought I cured him of this mistake when I took him to Door County last month.)

"We will be known forever by the tracks we leave!"

Here are a few vids & pics. Hope you enjoy these few vids & pics from the last 3 days. Stay tuned, more later this week....
